P-EBT benefits can work in conjunction with Florida’s statewide nutrition incentive program, Fresh Access Bucks, to ensure healthy food choices on a budget is easy. Fresh Access Bucks , a program of Feeding Florida, offers SNAP/EBT and P-EBT customers FREE fresh fruit and vegetables at any of the over 60 participating farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets or CSAs and four community grocery stores across the state.

Further, this under consumption is not only pervasive among all age groups but it is also persistent,” said Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN, president and CEO of Brentwood, Missouri-based PBH. “The PBH State of the Plate research report shows most Americans currently eat fruits and vegetables on just one occasion or less each day. A decline in fruit and vegetable eating occasions does not bode well for the future of fruit and vegetable intake and, most importantly, Americans’ health and happiness.”

“Expanding the Fresh Access Bucks program into the retail space has always been a goal for Feeding Florida,” says Robin Safley, Feeding Florida’s Executive Director. “Our food banks are able to provide immediate relief for Floridians needing food, but long-term solutions happen when you are able to provide healthy food options to families where they shop and access their groceries. Partnering with retailers statewide will allow SNAP recipients more nutritious options and an affordable way to make healthy choices for their families.”
