Feeding Florida, formerly the Florida Association of Food Banks, is the state’s network of food banks working to solve hunger. Our statewide network unites 9-member food banks to provide a healthy, adequate, and consistent food supply to every community every day.
The mission of Feeding Florida is to end hunger and address its root causes by advocating for statewide policies and programs, engaging statewide stakeholders, and mobilizing resources for its food bank members to optimize their work. Feeding Florida member food banks support more than 2,400 local charitable agencies, which provide food directly to individuals and families in need to ensure a hunger-free Florida. The Feeding Florida network is a unified voice regarding hunger and food access by focusing on each community’s needs.
Feeding Florida is a Partner State Association of Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief organization. Each Feeding Florida member food bank must meet stringent guidelines to be associated with Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest). This mutually beneficial contracted relationship assures both financial and operational excellence. It also provides accountability through network training, site monitoring and the maintenance of substantial records verifying conformity to established Federal and State safe food handling standards.
Feeding Florida members are private, non-governmental organizations with consistently high ratings from Charity Navigator.
